The Dacorum Pond Project’s aim is through volunteers to survey as many ponds as possible, to establish
their characteristics, condition and stewardship. The project aims to focus on key priorities
for management that are of particular wildlife importance, for example ponds on Wildlife Sites
and supports actions identified in the Dacorum Biodiversity Action Plan/ Dacorum Community Plan.
Currently 113, (28%) of 410, ponds have been surveyed, thanks to our hard working,
trained volunteers.

From these results, the CMS will now look into funding opportunities to restore some of the
ponds identified in need of management. It is hoped that restoration works to some of these
ponds can be carried out later this winter. For more information, please contact the CMS West
and Southern Area on 01727 848168.
