Affinity Water Environment Workshop, Fielder Centre, Hatfield, November 2012
Here is the report (
201211 AffinityWaterEnvironmentWorkshop.pdf) for the Affinity Water environment workshop that was held in November 2012 to
elicit the views of customers and stakeholders on Affinity Water's emerging
investment plans.
"A key concern for many stakeholders who attended the workshop is the environmental
impacts of over-abstraction of groundwater, with participants keen to see this issue
addressed in future investment plans. For many, reducing demand is essential to resolving
this problem with there being strong support for increased education and community
engagement to highlight the impacts of water use on the environment. Of particular
importance to stakeholders is making consumers aware of the direct link between the water
they use and the impacts on their local environment and river system. A suggestion that
comes up a number of times is for more information to be provided to customers that is
personalised to an individual's water usage, and comparative to other regions and other
water users. It was felt that this personalised approach to information provision would
increase the likelihood of customers being willing to pay more."
